Biography

Chris Cooper is Professor of Medicine and Physiology at the David Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA, based in Los Angeles, California. He joined GSK in April 2016 as a Global Medical Expert in the Respiratory Franchise and provides global medical support for GSK’s respiratory medicines. Chris trained at the University of London obtaining his BSc in physiology in 1973, MB BS (equivalent to MD) in 1976 and MD (equivalent to PhD) in 1991. He moved to UCLA in 1987 as a Fulbright Scholar and joined the faculty there in 1990. Over the years he has directed the UCLA COPD program and the Exercise Physiology Research Laboratory. In 2009, Chris was the recipient of the prestigious Sherman M Mellinkoff Faculty Award which is the highest faculty distinction awarded by the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. In 2013, he obtained his MS in Clinical Research.
